Mamanasco Lake is located in Ridgefield and is a natural lake within the Hudson River Drainage Basin. The water level was raised slightly by an earthen dam. The watershed is 901 acres of mostly residentially developed and some agricultural land. It is fed by the outlet stream of Turtle Pond and by surface runoff. The lake drains northward through a marsh into the Titicus River, which eventually feeds into the Croton River in New York State. The southwestern sore is dominated by residential development with some homes right at the water’s edge. The northeastern shore is mostly wooded with some steep cliff areas and a moderate number of homes set back from the water.

The transparency of the water is very turbid, with visibility of 2.5 ft. in the summer. The bottom of the lake consists of ledge, broken ledge and organic muck. The fishing should be good to excellent for bass ( especially during spring), crappie, sunfish and bullheads. Heavy submerging vegetation makes fishing difficult in the summer, however.
