Lake Waramaug is located in the towns of Kent, Warren, and Washington and is the second largest natural lake in the state and is in Housatonic River Drainage Basin. Its water level was raised slightly by a masonry dam. The watershed is 9,199 acres of mostly undeveloped woods with moderate agricultural and residential development. The lake is fed by five small brooks, a marsh and bottom springs. It drains southward into the East Aspetuck River, a tributary of the Housatonic River . The shoreline is partially wooded. There are numerous residences with many docks and retaining walls along most of the shoreline. Lake Waramaug State Park with its campground, beach and car-top boat access is on the northwestern end of the lake.
The transparency is fair with visibility of 6-7 ft. in summer. The bottom of the lake consists of sand, gravel, rubble, boulders, mud and organic muck. The fishing should be excellent for bass, pickerel, sunfish, rock bass and bullhead; good for stocked trout with some chance for a holdover and fair for yellow perch.

Ramp Comments: There is a car-top access are at Lake Waramaug State Park at the northwestern end of the lake. Facilities at the park include a swimming beach, fishing, picnicking, restrooms, and camping. Car-top boats or canoes can be unloaded near the access site off Lake Waramaug Rd. and carried approximately 200 ft. away. A parking fee is charged from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Canoe rentals are available for a fee. From Rte. 202, take Rte. 45 north for 2.0 miles, left (west) on North Shore Rd. (becomes Lake Rd.) for 2.3 miles, access is on the left.
